Celebrate National Clam Chowder Day

Did you know? The Union Oyster House is the oldest restaurant in the country and prides themselves on their delicious clam chowder. Former President Barack Obama even hit them up in 2015 for ten cups of it!

I would like to think in New England, every day is clam chowda day!  But the national day calendar has this day listed for February 25th.

In New England we are traditional and stick with the original recipe and most popular variety of clam chowder, "New England clam chowder" introduced to the region by French, Nova Scotian, or British settlers, becoming common in the 18th century.

Now while other recipes are out there unlike some New Yorkers we don't add tomatoes around these parts. In fact ordering Manhattan clam chowder is kinda like wearing a New York Yankees jersey to Fenway Park. You're going to get some looks!!

While a lot of places claim to have "Award Winning" or the "BEST" chowder in town, I have found everyone has there own take and this classic recipe.

I have samples many menus around the city and post on twitter about my finding. Below are some of my favoirts I have found and a few well know you should try anytime, not just on #NationalClamChowderDay
