OK, I am writing this after shoveling snow for most of the day in March. If you had to shovel yourself out of this winter mess, you deserve a good St. Patrick's Day Celebration in Boston.

Now, this is Boston, I don't care what people are saying we are better than Buffalo at doing St. Patrick's Day!! I'd like to think we are more than green beer and hats.

While almost every bar in Boston will be celebrating on March 17th, using my years of experience and hours of research, I think I have put together a great list of the BEST places, specials, and pints for St. Patrick's Day around Boston!!

Enjoy the day and be responsible

Cornwall's - My personal home away from home in Kenmore Square. Trust me on this, you need to stop in for lunch or dinner and treat yourself to the owner/John Beale's  special St. Patrick's Day Corned Beef and Cabbage with his special "Guinness Mustard ".

City Tap House Boston - For three straight nights, City Tap will celebrate the luck of the Irish as their kitchen dishes out a collection of specialty items inspired by Éire’s most traditional cuisine.

Cask 'n Flagon - Cask 'n Flagon at Fenway and in Marshfield is giving everyone the chance to channel their inner-Irish by serving up themed specials from both the kitchen and the bar. Like their traditional Boiled Dinner or drink specials like the Green Flagon.

South Street Diner - Celebrating all week long, South Street Diner is featuring a corned beef and cabbage special served with potatoes, carrots, homemade Irish soda bread and a pint of Guinness all for only $12. The South Street Diner will also feature a special menu of Irish breakfast with bangers, brown and white pudding and Guinness floats.

The Southie St. Patrick's Day Parade - Whether you're from Boston or Zimbabwe you probably have heard of our celebration in South Boston. Fact: It's the nation's longest-running public parade. It's also an amazing sight to see. What happens in Southie, stays in Southie and we will leave at that!

MAST’ Restaurant and Drinkery - On Friday, March 17th, MAST’ will turn not only its beer green but its pasta and pizza as well!  MAST’ will dish out two special creations, Spinach Fettuccini and Basil Pesto Pizza for your dining pleasure.

The Coolidge Corner Theatre -   The Coolidge After Midnite film series rocks St. Patrick's Day with two-midnight showing. On March 17th check out Leprechaun, and on March 18th you can go see The Departed.

Drop Kick Murphy's -  The Dropkick Murphys always come home for St Patrick's Week, and like always they make their home base McGreevy's. This year you can catch the hometown boys at the House of Blues Wed - Friday, Agganis Arena on Saturday and Brighton Music Hall on Sunday for a special show.

McGreevy's Boston - They take this day very serious, first off they open the doors and taps on St. Patrick's Day at 8:00 am. I might go for breakfast and a pint because, why not!! But this is also the home bar of Boston's own Drop Kick Murphy's (See Above) I always make McGreevy's one of my many stops for St Patrick's Day and I hope you do too.

MJ O'Connors -  Offers a special St. Patrick's Day menu with Corned Beef & Cabbage, a classic Irish Breakfast, Monaghan Shepherd's Pie, Bangers & Chips and more.

Best Pints of Guinness in Boston

A lot of bar's say they have the Best Pint in Boston. Everybody has their favorite. Mine is the one I am drinking right now.

However, Boston does have a few spots that by far have a perfect pour and better-tasting pint.  My top two, like most Guinness Drinkers in Boston, are Mr. Dooley's Tavern and Solas Irish Pub.

However here is a little cheat sheet of Boston area bars with great pints all year long. Courtesy of @Bostontweet
