Boston is a sports town we all know that, but you don’t need to look far to see our Irish roots are everywhere. People of Irish descent form the largest single ethnic group in Boston. You can see it everyday in Irish neighborhoods such as Charlestown and South Boston; in the name of the local basketball team, the Boston Celtics. You see in local bands like the Drop Kick Murphy’s, our legendary St. Patrick’s Day Parade in Southie, and in political figures like the Kennedy’s or names like former mayor James Michael Curley. Boston also has it's fair share of Irish or Irish themed pubs, bar’s and taverns to choose from.
